Castleton Farms Wedding

Let’s do a quick bullet point summary of this Castleton Farms Wedding:

  1. Gorgeous.
  2. Beautiful.
  3. Stunning.
  4. Incredible.

Yup…that about sums it up ha. For real, I am so thankful these two (and the state of TN) didn’t require their wedding to postpone because of COVID. This was the first big, full reception wedding I’ve shot since March 14th, and man oh man did it feel so good to be back. It also felt hot because it was a scorcher of a day, but regardless of the heat, it felt so great to be back in my rhythm. To be with a team of people making Castleton Farms wedding dreams happen.

One of my favorite parts of this day was when Taylor and Collis shared a first touch. This is two fold because normally I encourage my couples to do a first look to get more time with them. A first look is not for everyone, however, and it wasn’t right for Taylor and Collis. So, rather than doing a first look, they did a first touch around a corner of the house. Rather than just chatting and holding hands, they decided to read their vows to one another. These vows, you guys. They were sweet, they were personal, they had a little bit of humor, and most importantly, they were heard because they did it in a private moment with just the two of them. Taylor read hers first, and as Collis listened, he had a sweet smile on his face. Then, it was his turn, and he got a bit emotional. It was the sweetest thing on the planet. There was no way to know this at the time, but later on in the ceremony, the sun would come out from behind the clouds, and it would make it hard to fully concentrate on every word being said. But they didn’t have to because they took the time during their first touch where it was quiet and without any distractions to focus on each other’s words and really hear their vows. They also didn’t use those vows for the ceremony, which I thought was cool. So, no one felt pressure to have them perfect, but they still got to jot down all the emotional highs and personal vows for one another. If a first look is not for you, consider doing your first touch like Taylor and Collis did. It was really sweet.
